The Standard's first European outpost transforms a 1974 former Camden Town Hall Annexe into 266 rooms of unapologetic decadence, where London Underground seat-cover patterns inform the color scheme and a bright red external capsule lift shoots guests up to Decimo—Michelin-starred chef Peter Sanchez-Iglesias's 10th-floor Spanish-Mexican restaurant with floor-to-ceiling panoramic views. Designer Shawn Hausman (the Chateau Marmont visionary) has gone full 1970s fantasy: rattan ceilings, macramé curtains from Peru, velvet everything, and bathrooms that look like they belong in a particularly well-appointed disco. The ground-floor Library Lounge pays homage to the building's former life, with vintage titles sourced from London libraries and the Sounds Studio (a glass-enclosed recording booth where DJs, podcasters, and musicians lay down tracks while hotel guests watch).
