THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
The Oberoi Marrakech
Twenty minutes outside the medina, where the road opens up and the palm groves thicken, The Oberoi sits behind gates you'd drive past if you didn't know to look. It's the kind of quiet luxury that doesn't announce itself. It has no grand statements, just immaculate gardens and architecture . The design pulls from Moroccan tradition without replicating it. Arched walkways, courtyards with reflecting pools, zellige work that's precise without being showy. The scale is generous, as everything feels wider, taller, more spacious than necessary. Light moves through the property differently depending on the hour, which you'll notice because you'll spend more time just sitting than you planned to. The villas and suites are effortlessly luxurious. High ceilings, marble from floor to ceiling, private courtyards or terraces depending on the category. Some have plunge pools, all have soaking tubs positioned for the view. Interiors are cream and taupe and natural wood, the kind of palette that brings calmness. Two pools, both with their own identity. The main one stretches twenty-seven meters, lined with daybeds that get claimed early. The smaller one is tucked into the olive groves, quieter, better if you're reading. The spa is serious with a traditional hammam, Ayurvedic treatments, therapists who've been doing this long enough to know where you're holding tension before you tell them. The restaurant serves Moroccan and international, which here means tagines made properly alongside Italian pasta and Japanese precision. The chef sources from local markets but isn't bound by them. Breakfast is worth waking up for, Moroccan msemen, French pastries, eggs however you want them. Dinner by the fire pits when it's cool enough, poolside in summer. The staff operates with the kind of efficiency that looks effortless. They'll arrange anything, private guides, drivers who won't detour to shops. They will help with dinner reservations at places that don't take online bookings. The location is the sweet spot, it's just far enough from the medina to feel removed, close enough for spontaneous trips into the city. The Palmeraie surrounds you, which means rides through date palms and olive trees if you're inclined. The drive back after navigating the souks feels like crossing into another country.

Light layers for the orchards and the pool terrace, a kaftan or linen for the evenings, and one dress or well-cut jacket for Rivayat. The Oberoi has a quiet formality that rewards dressing for dinner without requiring it
