Rosewood Mayakoba sits within 1,600 acres of jungle, mangroves, and lagoons along the Riviera Maya, about 30 minutes north of Playa del Carmen. The resort is built into the landscape rather than on top of it—waterways connect the property, and you'll travel between your suite, restaurants, and beach by boat or walking paths through the mangroves. It's a completely different approach than the typical beachfront tower, and it changes the entire experience of being here. The suites are freestanding or grouped in small clusters, which gives you actual privacy. Most have plunge pools on private decks that overlook lagoons or jungle. The interiors mix contemporary Mexican design with natural materials—polished concrete, local woods, floor-to-ceiling windows that blur the line between inside and out. Bathrooms are indoor-outdoor with rain showers open to private gardens. The overwater suites extend into the lagoon on stilts and are worth the splurge if you're celebrating something. At night, you'll hear the jungle rather than neighboring rooms. The beach is white sand and protected by the reef, so the water stays calm and swimmable. There are three pools scattered across the property, each with different energy. Punta Bonita does excellent coastal Mexican and ceviche by the beach. Aqui Me Quedo serves farm-to-table in a palapa setting that feels more refined than you'd expect. The spa, Sense, is set deep in the mangroves and uses Mayan healing traditions alongside modern treatments. The El Camaleón golf course is part of the larger Mayakoba development if you're into that. This is not just a stay, it's an immersion.
