THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Four Seasons Hotel Milano
A 15th-century convent in the middle of Milan's Fashion District. Step through the gates and you're in a tree-lined cloister that has nothing to do with the streets outside. The hotel is located between Via Montenapoleone and Via della Spiga, every major fashion house within five minutes, but the property feels entirely separate. The conversion kept the original architecture. Renaissance frescoes, vaulted ceilings, historical details remain, paired with Pierre-Yves Rochon's 2025 room renovation and Patricia Urquiola's 2021 redesign of common areas. Modern and cosmopolitan without erasing the monastery bones. The 118 rooms and suites split between cloister views and Via Gesù. Courtyard-facing rooms are quieter, overlooking the garden where convent residents once grew herbs. Upper-tier suites have original stucco ceilings and visible frescoes on the walls. Restaurant Zelo serves Italian cuisine under Chef Fabrizio Borracino, seasonal ingredients without unnecessary complexity. It extends into the cloister in warmer months. Bar Stilla runs from morning espresso to evening Negronis, with an outdoor garden version and DJ sets in summer. The spa has an indoor pool and proper aromatherapy treatments. The concierge team handles car emergencies to restaurant reservations with Milan-level efficiency. La Scala, the Duomo, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, and Pinacoteca di Brera are all walkable. The real advantage is being inside the quadrilatero della moda, the fashion district's defining streets, before you leave the hotel. Four Seasons doing what they do - high standards, precise service, a property that works as city base and urban sanctuary. The garden courtyard alone makes the choice.
